Diversified technique is a method commonly used by chiropractic providers to correct subluxations or misalignments of joints. It is a hands-on adjustment method that has shown to be a benefit in treating injuries due to sports or other causes. The diversified technique is a well known adjustment method universally taught in chiropractic colleges. A detailed assessment, which may include x-rays, and a complete physical exam that includes past medical history, is performed to determine mechanical distortions of the spine. Following a thorough and comprehensive assessment, Dr. Lawrence Burdette DC uses a hands-on technique to provide manual adjustment to correct areas in misalignment, and has experience and skill to aid you in obtaining a quick and effective recovery.
Cox Flexion Technique is a gentle adjustment method used to provide relief from leg and lower back pain. The goal of using this method is to place the spine into proper body alignment. When the spine is maintained in a proper position pressure on the nerves is decreased and pain relief is often times immediate.
Thompson Technique is a chiropractic method that is a variant of the Diversified technique. A specialized table is used to effectively assist with the delivery of thrust maneuvers. This specific table has several segments that can be adjusted called drop pieces. Use of this drop table minimizes the required force needed for an adjustment.
Low Force Technique
Low Force Technique is a gentle approach using low amplitude palpation and motion to effectively align the spine. This low force method is especially useful when dealing with a patient who has suffered an injury. Gentle palpation and motion is used to treat the problem areas and is quite effective in relieving pain.
Full Spine Technique
Full Spine Technique is a chiropractic method used to align the entire spine. It is a hands-on motion palpation technique that adjusts the spine from the neck down. Full spine alignment has shown to decrease neck, mid back and lower back pain.
Gonstead Technique is a precise and accurate method of adjustment that specifically treats problem areas. A Gonstead doctor performs an in-depth detailed patient examination to determine if your health condition can be effectively treated. Your provider takes care to locate specific problem areas, and works efficiently by using correct positioning and delivering precision thrusts to treat and correct subluxations.
Flexion Distraction Technique
Flexion Distraction Technique is a hands-on non surgical method that uses precise flexion and distraction methods to increase spinal motion and resolve disc bulges or herniation. It is commonly practiced to alleviate lower back pain, extremity pain, and neck pain associated with cervical radiculopathy. Cervical radiculopathy is a condition where the exiting nerves of the spine become pinched or compressed by surrounding structures. Flexion Distraction Technique helps improve range of motion and flexibility of muscles and joints.
Manual Adjustments are done using hands-on techniques to provide proper body alignment. A chiropractic provider uses skill and proficiency to perform spinal manipulation to make adjustments to the spine to decrease pressure and align the body.
Activator Method of adjusting uses a hand held piece of equipment called an Activator Adjusting Instrument. This small instrument is positioned at specific body locations to deliver a gentle pulsating force for the purpose of restoring motion to spine vertebrae and body joints. Two advantages of using the Activator Technique are quickness of the device to deliver appropriate force, and the applied force is localized to a specific area and does not place additional torque to a joint.
Trigger Point Massage Therapy (soft tissue therapy)
A trigger point is a painful area that can develop in an injured muscle. This painful point can remain long after your body has recovered from an injury. Pain, numbness or tingling can be felt at the trigger point or may be felt in other body areas. Treatment for trigger points involves deep direct pressure massage to alleviate the knotted muscle.
Mechanical Traction Therapy
Mechanical Traction Therapy is used to gently stretch the spine. The use of weights or pulleys applies a gentle force to allow for proper space between spinal vertebrae. This method is effective for decreasing compression on the spinal nerves.
Electrical Stimulation Therapy
Electrical Stimulation Therapy is an innovative effective way to relieve pain. Electrodes are placed strategically to deliver a mild electrical current to stimulate muscles and underlying tissues. This allows for tense muscles to relax and decreases inflammation. Electrical stimulation combined with massage therapy is proven to reduce pain.
Ultra Sound Therapy
Ultra Sound Therapy uses therapeutic sound waves to decrease inflammation, and reduce joint stiffness and pain. Ultra Sound Therapy promotes circulation, and may be used with therapeutic massage, stretching or chiropractic manipulation.
